Windows 8 PIN Logon How to Setup PIN Logon in Windows 8

Windows 8 PIN Logon How to Setup PIN Logon in Windows 8

If you have installed Microsoft Windows 8 in your device, you will know that Windows 8 supports 3 password logon types. Except the original login types, Microsoft allows their Windows 8 users to use a picture password or a PIN code to login their Windows OS. It is quite convenient for Windows 8 tablets that supports SIM card once Windows 8 OS supports PIN code setting and logon. Here I will mainly introduce what the PIN code is and how to setup Windows 8 PIN logon for Windows 8 users.

What is PIN code?

PIN is short for Personal Identification Number. That is also the personal identification password of SIM card. The PIN code of mobile phone is the safety precautions of SIM card. In order to prevent your SIM card being embezzled, if you type the incorrect PIN code 3 times, your mobile phone will be locked automatically. Then you have to use the PUK code to unlock it. However, if you setup to use the PIN code to login you Windows 8, then every time you open the machine, you will need to type the 4-digit code.

How to Setup Windows 8 PIN login?

Step 1: Start Windows 8 and then type "pin" at the Start Screen on the search box. Then click on the Setting category.

Step 2: Then you can enter the PC setting option. Click the Create a PIN option in the sign-in options.

Step 3: If the current account has a login password, the Windows 8 will ask for typing the current account login password. So you can just type it and then click the OK button.

Step 4: Then you will enter the "create a PIN" option. Just enter a 4-digit PIN code, and type it again to confirm it. Then click the Finish button to finish the process.

Next time when you login your account, you will be presented with a prompt to enter your PIN. But if you want to remove PIN code, you can just go to the PC setting and click the Remove button, then the PIN code will be got rid of.

What if you forgot Windows 8 PIN Logon?

If you forgot you PIN code, you can still use the login password to logon. But if you forgot Windows 8 login password carelessly, I think you can try a Windows password recovery program to reset or remove Windows 8 password easily.

XBOX 360 How to Mod Achievements using Xbox Profile Editor 2 02

XBOX 360 How to Mod Achievements using Xbox Profile Editor 2 02

xbox live profile hack

Welcome to my first modding tutorial: How to Unlock Achievements using Xbox Profile Editor 2.02. Any tips on how to make this tutorial better are greatly appreciated and will be given credit. I know there are others, but they are outdated and some are even missing crucial steps. Also, word of warning: The first part of the tutorial is a general tutorial, with the last part specific to profile modding. Well, here we go.

Purpose of the Tutorial
-After reading this tutorial, you should be able to mod achievements on Xbox 360 games that are on your profile, thus increasing your Gamerscore and helping you 100% games. In addition, you will know how to extract your profile.

Warnings – PLEASE READ
-Before you continue, you need to know the risks and how to avoid them. If you don’t want to take the risks, then stop reading after this section.

Risk 1: Gamerscore Reset
The Risk: Having your Gamerscore reset to 0 and being placed in the Cheater gamerzone.
The Cause: The most common cause of this happening is people getting carried away, unlocking too many achievements at once, causing a massive increase in gamerscore and alerting Microsoft that something is up. Another cause is unlocking Online Achievements offline.
The solution: Moderation is key. Do not increase your gamerscore by a significant amount each time. My suggestion is a MAXIMUM of 7,000 at a time, though 5,000 would be better(If anyone disagrees with these values, please say so and state your opinion.) Also, pay attention to EVERY achievement. Make sure they are offline ones when you unlock them. There is an option to unlock an achievement online, but it can still set off a flag. My suggestion: Don’t unlock online achievements.

Risk 2: Suspended from Xbox Live
The Risk: Having your Xbox Live Account suspended for a set amount of time.
The Cause: Same as Risk 1
The Solution: Same as Risk 1

What You Need
-[Click here to view the link]
-A 4GB or higher USB Drive configured to work with your Xbox 360 Console.
-Slight intelligence(This costs extra, unfortunately.)

The Tutorial
*If you have a USB already set up for Xbox, skip to Part 2 *
*If you already know how to transfer your Live Profile to your USB, do so and skip to Part 3*

Part 1: Setting up your USB for Xbox 360 use.
Step 1: Plug the USB into an open USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
Step 2: Go to My Xbox, scroll all the way to the right, and select System Information.
Step 3: Go to Memory. You should see the option to select USB Memory, or something of that nature.
Step 4: Select that, and follow the steps. *WARNING*Doing this step will format the USB UNLESS you choose to partition part of the flash drive for use for Xbox. I personally find it easier to just dedicate a USB Drive for Xbox modding.
Step 5: Let it do its thing. Now on to part 2!

Part 2: Moving your Xbox Live Profile to your USB drive.
Step 1: Plug the Xbox-formatted USB into the Xbox 360 system.
Step 2: Go to my Xbox, scroll all the way to the right, and select System Information.
Step 3: Go to Memory, select the Xbox 360 Hard Drive, and go to Profiles.
Step 4: Select your profile and Move it to the USB Drive.
Step 5: Remove the USB from your Xbox 360 system and plug it into your computer.
Step 6: Open up the USB Explorer. Click on the folder there until you reach FFFE07D1. Open it; your profile is in this folder.
Step 7: Click “Extract” and extract it to an easily-accessible file.
Step 8: Repeat Step 7, but RENAME the file, adding “BackUp” to the end with a space, like this: “E000.. Backup”. This way, you have a backup copy of your profile in case something goes wrong. DO THIS EVERYTIME YOU EXTRACT YOUR PROFILE.
Step 9: Keep the USB Explorer open. You will need it later.

Part 3: Modding your profile.
-Step 1: Open up the Xbox 360 Profile Editor
-Step 2: Click open, then navigate and open the profile you extracted, NOT the backup copy.
-Step 3: You can now see all the games that you have played. By clicking a game, you can see the list of achievements there and their status(locked or unlocked). Select the game you want to unlock achievements for.
-Step 4: This step depends on what you want to do.

Sub-Step 1: If ALL achievements for this game are offline, then it is safe to use the unlock all button to unlock them all. Click this button, read the warning(this isn’t that necessary for offline achievements), and click okay. All your achievements for that game are now unlocked. Do this for each OFFLINE game you want(remember my warnings.) If this is all you want to do, go on to Step 5. If you wish to mod online achievements, or a game with them, go to Sub-Step 2.

Sub-Step 2: If a game has online achievements, then the Unlock All(Offline) option will not work(well, it will, but you increase your chance of being reset or banned.) Therefore, you must do each achievement single. To do this, click the achievement you wish to unlock, then select the right option for it(Offline if it is an offline achievement, online if it is an online achievement[Again, I do NOT recommend unlocking online achievements.]). Then click set. This will unlock the achievement. Do this for each achievement you want unlocked. IF you decide to do online, CHANGE THE TIMESTAMPS. Do NOT have 5 online achievements unlocked at the same time. Use common sense here.

-Step 5: Once you are done modding your achievements, click the Xbox icon in the top left corner, and click Save. Close the Profile editor.
-Step 6: Open up Modio. (I would suggest creating an account, but it isn’t necessary.). Click “Open Save”. Navigate to the newly saved profile and open it.
-Step 7: A small screen should pop up that contains your gamer picture and Profile ID. On this small screen, click the Rehash and Resign button and wait for it to finish. (In the lower left corner of that screen, you should see your gamertag. When it is done, this block will say “Rehashed and Resigned”).
-Step 8: Go back to the USB Explorer, delete the file there(this SHOULD be your profile if you followed my steps; if not, navigate back to it). Then click “Inject” and select the rehashed/resigned profile(Same one you have used throughout this entire thing.)
-Step 9: Plug back into your Xbox and boot it. Connect to Xbox Live, DISCONNECT from Live, then reconnect. Your gamerscore should now reflect the changed you made.

And there you have it! You have successfully modded your gamerscore. Remember, there is ALWAYS the chance you will get caught; however, if you follow this guide, you make the chances as low as you possibly can.

Good luck, and happy modding.

If you disagree with anything here, or have any suggestions, please post them. You will be credited.

Upgrading to Windows 10 and how an SSD really matters

Upgrading to Windows 10 and how an SSD really matters

Upgrading to Windows 10

Right now I am wondering why I did it.  I started an upgrade to Windows 10 last night, and my primary work laptop is stuck in a boot loop.  I hadnt even received a notification yet, even though I had "reserved" my upgrade a long time ago.  Since I decided I couldnt wait, I searched and found the MediaCreationToolx64.exe from Microsoft at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10.

I know I must be good at finding bugs, or them me.  On my first attempt at using the MediaCreationToolx64.exe tool, I didnt choose to upgrade and was just letting it do a download to a USB key.  I was busy doing other things at the same time, and one of them required that I reboot my system.  The tool was reporting a status of about 50% complete at the time I executed:

shutdown /r /f

After restarting, the MediaCreationToolx64 kept reporting that it wasnt able to start properly, and suggesting rebooting to solve the problem.  That recommendation was not helpful, but I was able to use information in this link to fix the problem I created: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-troubleshoot-common-setup-and-stop-errors/324d5a5f-d658-456c-bb82-b1201f735683.

This was the procedure that was successful for me:
a. Press Windows key + X on the desktop screen of the computer.
b. Select Command Prompt (Admin)
c. On the open Command Prompt window copy and paste the commands (all at once).
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution
C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2
C:WindowsSystem32catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver

Next, I tried to Upgrade this PC, instead of making a USB disk for installation on another computer.  The first stage of the installation went successfully to 100% and then my computer rebooted.  I am now stuck with it continually rebooting.  There seems to be a phantom entry in the UEFI, as there are two choices to boot the system, one that is still labeled Windows 8.1 and another one without a label.  Neither one will boot my system, and none of the choices on the boot menu are helpful either.

As I write, I am now downloading Windows 10 for installation on another computer from my spare laptop.  According to the information found at the site of the last link, I should be able to boot the USB to repair the start up of the system.  I hope so!

My download just finished.  The MediaCreationToolx64 first verified the download, and now it is creating the Windows 10 Media.  Creating the media seems to take a long time... about as long as the download!  For the first 50% of the time it is preparing the media, and then for the second 50% it writes it out to the USB drive.

No luck using the Windows 10 setup program booting off the USB drive. I was not able to repair the start up of the system, despite that option being available within the Windows 10 setup program.  I was also unable to restore any previous system restore points that I had created.

In order to upgrade, the setup program told me that I had to boot that version of Windows, which was still not happening.  When I tried to do a fresh install I was told that I was not allowed because the only partition big enough to hold the new Windows was a "reserved OEM partition".

The Good News

One option that was available in the Windows 10 setup program was helpful.  It at least allowed me to open a command prompt.  This setup mode of Windows also allowed me to have access to not only the internal hard drive partitions, but also to any external hard drives or USB flash drives.

After connecting my Western Digital "My Passport Ultra" 2 TB external hard drive, it was recognized as the G: drive.  Oddly, what was normally my C: drive showed up as the D:.  To backup all of my users data, I used the following commands:

mkdir g:users
robocopy /r:0 /w:0 /s d:users  g:users

The /r:0 option is to attempt 0 retries on a failed copy, the /w:0 option is to wait 0 seconds between retries, and the /s option is to make it act recursively on the source directory d:users.
When I saw it was copying a very deep and unwanted directory, I used CTRL-C to stop the copying.  I then used the following command to prune a directory and all of its contents:

rmdir /s d:usersKeithDocumentsGithub

The Best News

Since I dont have time to spend backing up other parts of the original drive outside of the "users" directory, I ran out and got a new Toshiba Q Series Pro SSD.  Best Buy had a great deal on them for the same price Id pay for it on Amazon, so I jumped on it.

It will be a bit hard to say I suppose whether I get a boost in speed from the new Solid State Drive, from Windows 10 versus Windows 8.1, or by just having a fresh clean install.  If it is slower than before, then Id be really surprised.

The setup of Windows 10 was so fast I was really surprised.  It was done in less than ten minutes with what it had to do from the USB drive.  Then, it took about another 20 minutes of running of the hard drive to set up the apps and the updates.

The best news:  My work laptop is now booting Windows 10!  It would be better news if it wasnt running Windows, but its my work laptop, so it must!

Update - SSD is a MUST Upgrade

The speed of my system is dramatically improved! There is no way I can attribute the speed increase to more than anything the Toshiba Q Series Pro SSD replacing a 5400 RPM Toshiba traditional hard drive.  Applications with exactly the same code that was running a couple of days ago on Windows 8.1 now load so much faster, it is unbelievable to me!  If you are a person who swears at your computer for being slow, then you MUST upgrade to a SSD drive!

Windows 8 Update to 8 1 How to Deal With Login Password Reset Problem

Windows 8 Update to 8 1 How to Deal With Login Password Reset Problem

Windows 8 Update to Windows 8.1

Microsoft has announced that the first major update to Windows 8, known as Windows 8.1, will be available worldwide beginning October 18th. This update offers a host of fixes and upgrades comes from user feedback on Windows 8, our consumers can download update directly from the Windows Store.
Windows 8 Update with Password Recovery

Windows 8.1 New Features

Windows 8.1 offers several new features that will be a breath of fresh air for Windows 8 users, such as the return of the Start button and a boot-to-desktop option to bypass the tiled start screen. The update also offers many improvements for Windows users as a whole, such as a better Windows Store experience, built-in apps and enhanced personalization options.

Windows 8.1, which was unveiled back in June, will bring multitasking improvements as well as tweaks to the user interface. These features include camera access from the lock screen and a new universal search engine that communicates with Bing and Wikipedia. Microsoft is also re-introducing the Start button, but it brings users to the Start screen and doesn’t include the beloved Start menu.

Businesses, however, have additional areas to consider. Other than BYOD integration and direct connectivity with Office 365, SkyDrive and other Microsoft cloud computing services, experts say Windows 8.1 may or may not be suitable for your company, for several reasons.

Microsoft heard user complaints but instead of bringing back the old-fashioned Start menu in 8.1 it put a Start button in the lower right corner of the screen that takes you straight to the Windows 8 Start screen. This isnt much of an improvement, because users already had at least four different ways to get to the Start screen, including the previously invisible Start button that sat in the same space and appeared when you hovered the corner.

Microsoft saw Windows 8 users displaying photos of their loved ones on their Lock screens, so they figured, why stop at one photo? In Windows 8.1 users can turn their Lock screen into a slideshow of photos that theyve taken straight from their device or from SkyDrive. Or users can take photos right from the Windows 8 Lock screen like http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com/win8/disable-windows-8-lock-screen.html with the built-in camera. The new lock screen doesnt just pull in your photos-- it displays images taken within the year from that days date.

Windows 8.1 Password Reset

Well, will you Windows 8 users upgrade your OS on the release day? Actually, I will, for it is free to us! During upgrading, we hope to keep our data safe, and one more thing that we need consider: can we still login Windows 8.1 with the old Windows 8 account? If there is password incorrect problem, how can we get rid of password quickly?
The most convenient way is to refer to pro Windows Password Recovery Tool. The tool has helped large amount of Windows users worldwide and works on Windows Server 2012/2011/2008, Windows 8/7/XP/Vista, etc. Just three easy steps to get Windows password reset:

Download and install the application on an accessible PC.
Insert a blank CD/DVD or a USB Flash device in computer, next youll be able to burn a Windows password reset disk in a few seconds.
Boot the locked computer from the burned disk, and then you can reset Windows password under WinPE within a few clicks.
