TESTING AND CALIBRATING SYSTEM BATTERY

TESTING AND CALIBRATING SYSTEM BATTERY

1. The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low

Solution: This is an indication that your Battery is/maybe dead. The best and advisable resolution Is to replace the Battery.

The storage capacity, also known as capacity, of a rechargeable battery is the amount of energy the battery can store to power a portable device such as a notebook computer. The lower the storage capacity of a battery, the shorter amount of time it can power a portable device. When battery storage capacity is very low, the battery is near the end of its useful life. All rechargeable batteries gradually lose their storage capacity. This loss in capacity (aging) is irreversible and cannot be restored.

After seeing the first instance of an HP Battery Alert message, you should consider replacing your battery with a new battery soon.

Testing and calibrating the battery using HP System Diagnostics (preferred method for windows 7)

To test the battery using the HP PC Diagnostics UEFI or the HP System Diagnostics, start with the computer off and unplugged from the power. Use the following instructions to test the battery:

  2. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  3. Press the Esc key immediately when seeing the HP or the Compaq logo screen.

The Start Up menu appears.

  1. Press F2 to select F2 System Diagnostics.

  2. Select Battery Test from the list of diagnostic or component tests.

NOTE: If your battery is fully charged, the battery test screen might not appear.
